250th Anniversary of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent
Architecture and Interior Design
The exposition is a synopsis of 250 years of architectural history. It shows work both by students and teachers of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Ghent. The exposition consists of two parts. The first part (1751-1960) is presented in the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. You can see the history of the architecture department from it's early start until after World War II. There is work by Victor Horta, Lodewijk Roelandt, Albert Van huffel, Gaston Eysselinck... The second part (1961-2001) is to see in the Caermers Monastery. Thirty-eight contemporary architects have been chosen. They have made a selection from their own projects.
