Barbara Nanning
Eternal spring
After having built a career as a ceramics artist, Barbara Nanning began to work with glass for the first time in 1994.
This Dutch glass artist unites tradition and innovation. Her solo exhibition displays no less than 200 floral and plant forms and installations. All objects in white opaque glass were mouth blown and hand shaped. They have a porcelain-like look.
The floral forms, realized with incredible refinement and a sharp eye for detail, are based on the exuberant 18th-century Meissen porcelain and on monumental bouquet-shaped table centerpieces from the 1920s, produced by Venini on the Italian island of Murano.
